"Everybody Matters" Chapter 11: Recognition and Celebration

Our purpose is to collectively define the ideals behind being "People Centric." We aim to share best practices and learn from each other as to how best we, as leaders, can become a catalyst in the lives of the people we serve.

Read chapter 11, think through your answers, then discuss them with your leadership team. We ask you to share a summary of your thoughts and insights.  Our goal is to create a learning environment where we can all benefit from each other’s perspectives.

Post your comments to the questions below:

Do you feel that you matter in your organization? How is that recognized and celebrated by your organization, by your colleagues, by yourself? How can you recognize and celebrate others?

Is there an emphasis on acknowledging things that go well or things that go poorly in your organization? What impact does that have on environment and attitudes within your organization? In your opinion, how should your organization balance these two types of recognition?

How have you given and received recognition in your past? What impact did each of these have on you? How can recognition and celebration be used as a means to foster growth and development?
